KINGS POINT, N.Y. — In a closely contested match on Tuesday evening, the Farmingdale State College women’s soccer team faced a 1-0 defeat against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in a Skyline Conference matchup. Despite dominating the shot count with 17 attempts compared to the Mariners’ five, Farmingdale was unable to capitalize.
The lone goal of the game was scored by USMMA’s Ainsley Carlon in the first half, marking their only shot for the period. This proved decisive as Farmingdale State’s offense intensified in the latter stages of the match. The Rams unleashed 14 shots against the Mariners, including near misses from junior Taylor Boes and freshman Riley Febbroriello, both of whom struck the crossbar early in the second half.
In a final push for an equalizer, Farmingdale State earned a corner kick in the closing minute. However, Febbroriello’s shot off the set piece was expertly saved by the USMMA goalkeeper, sealing the victory for the Mariners.
Farmingdale State will be looking to bounce back this Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:30 PM, as they travel to Patchogue, N.Y., to face St. Joseph’s-Long Island. This upcoming game presents an opportunity for the Rams to regain momentum in the conference.
