WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford women’s tennis team secured their first victory of the season on September 29, defeating Suffolk University with a score of 6-2 in a conference clash.
Match Overview
The Hawks started the match strong, winning two out of three doubles competitions. Notably, junior Victalia Z. Deida from New Haven, along with graduate student Lia Gosselin from South Bend, achieved a 6-4 victory against Suffolk’s tandem of Julia Lanczycki and Chloe Burns. Graduate students Jessica Marks (from Hartford) and Lora Acquario (from East Nassau) added another win for Hartford, finishing their match with a score of 6-3 against Morgan Plitt and Palina Vialichka. The sole doubles victory for Suffolk came when Nia Bebb and Callie Clark edged past Isabelle Simino (from Franklin) and Maddie Pearlman, winning 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreaker.
Singles Competitions
In singles action, the Hawks maintained their momentum with robust performances across the lineup. Pearlman clinched her first singles win of the season, overcoming Chloe Burns with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Following that, Deida delivered another strong performance, defeating Callie Clark in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
Hartford continued its success with junior Natalie Lamb (from Glastonbury) winning her match against Morgan Plitt, contributing to the Hawks securing their fifth overall team point, finalizing the match at 5-2 in favor of Hartford.
