Stevens Women’s Volleyball Continues Winning Streak with Impressive Sweeps

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team recorded two victories on Saturday, enhancing their impressive season record to 13 wins and 2 losses. The Ducks secured straightforward wins against Wilkes University and Drew University, each match ending in a decisive three-set sweep.

Match Summary: Stevens vs. Wilkes

The encounter with Wilkes showcased Stevens’ strong performance, with the first set beginning competitively until the score reached 8-8. At that point, the Ducks initiated a pivotal 12-0 scoring streak, driven by Alyssa O’Neal’s stellar serving. Julianne Danis, Ella Boland, and Eva Tarolli contributed multiple kills, while Wilkes struggled with attack errors. Despite Wilkes attempting a late comeback, a kill from Danis, followed by a block from Alexa Brucculeri and Kileen McNeill, sealed the first set at 25-14.

The Ducks maintained their momentum in the third set, allowing several reserves to gain playing time. After achieving a narrow 13-12 lead, Stevens expanded their advantage, ultimately finishing the match with a 25-18 victory.

Match Summary: Stevens vs. Drew

The matchup against Drew started with the Ducks establishing control from the beginning. A series of service aces from Tarolli propelled Stevens to a 4-0 advantage early in the first set. Although the Rangers managed to narrow the gap to four points, the Ducks consistently countered each challenge, with late-set contributions from Boland, Danis, and O’Neal leading to a 25-18 set win.

In the second set, Stevens again jumped out to an early lead at 7-2. Despite Drew closing the gap to 10-9, the Ducks responded strongly, with Danis serving several aces during a crucial run that expanded the lead to 20-14. The set concluded at 25-15, courtesy of a strong finish by Stevens.

Stevens wrapped up the match against Drew with ease in the third set.
