Farmingdale State Women’s Tennis Triumphs Over Baruch College
In a strong showing on the courts, the Farmingdale State College women’s tennis team secured their second consecutive victory by defeating Baruch College 5-2 in a non-conference match held in Farmingdale, New York.

The Rams, now with a season record of 3-5, took an early lead by winning two of three doubles matches. Both doubles victories were achieved with a 6-4 scoreline. The pairing of sophomore Marybeth Zimos from Bellmore, NY, and freshman Ana Hernandez from Valley Stream, NY, clinched a win in the third doubles flight against Baruch’s Ruth Kay Madariaga and Mariam Ghanem. Senior duo Natalia Furchel from Manorville, NY, and Gabriella Loria from Levittown, NY, followed suit, winning their match against Anusha Yadav and Cindy Joyette to secure the doubles point for Farmingdale.
Singles Success
Farmingdale continued to dominate as they won four of the subsequent five singles matches. The momentum started with Loria, who triumphed in her match in the third flight with a score of 6-4, 6-2 against Doyeong Lee. Freshman Emma Johannsen from Verplanck, NY, added to the Rams’ tally with a hard-fought victory at No. 5, where she defeated Eveline Aleksandrov 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
Kaelin Burnett, a sophomore from East Islip, NY, sealed the overall win for Farmingdale with a nail-biting performance. She triumphed over Joyette with a score of 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-3 at the second singles position. Finally, Furchel rounded out the singles matches with an intense three-set victory, overcoming Yadav with scores of 6-4, 6-7 (1-7), and 6-3.
