Star Fox Update Version 1.2.0 Released
In an exciting announcement during the recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that the iconic Star Fox series is set to enhance its gameplay through a new update. Version 1.2.0, which was launched on September 29, 2026, introduces fresh Battle Mode stages and additional split-screen gameplay options.

Battle Mode Enhancements
- Three new stages have been added: Katina, Sector X, and Venom.
- New battle items will now appear to enhance the competitive experience.
- A split-screen feature allows for up to four players to engage in battles on a single Nintendo Switch 2 console, with each player requiring their own controller. Joy-Con controllers can be utilized for solo play in a horizontal grip.
- A new option lets players join random matches as teams using the split-screen function.
Adjustments in Campaign and Challenge Modes
- A confirmation dialog now appears when players opt to “ABANDON CAMPAIGN” upon experiencing a game over.
- Visual adjustments have been implemented to make it easier for players to identify damage dealt to specific bosses.
- Modifications have been made to the “Find the hidden power-up” challenge in Sector X to ensure completion is possible regardless of item acquisition.
- Color adjustments to the “Bolse Core” boss’s weak point have been made for improved visibility.
Battle Mode Improvements
- The online lobby now remains intact even if the host leaves during Online Battle sessions.
- Players in full-screen mode using a camera can now see their camera feed on the game screen when specific actions occur.
- A separately sold USB camera is necessary for functionality, transmitting audio to GameChat participants only.
Training Adjustments
The positioning of goalposts in the “Use tilt to fly through the goalposts” challenge has been refined for ease of navigation.
Bug Fixes
Campaign Mode / Challenge Mode
- Fixed sporadic crashes upon repeatedly selecting RESTART during gameplay in Corneria.
- Resolved freezing issues related to concurrent ship defeat and boss defeat events in Aquas and Area 6.
- Addressed occurrences where the Goras boss failed to reappear correctly in Titania.
- Corrected freezing scenarios when transitioning between Venom in Challenge Mode and Campaign Mode.
- Various sound issues during gameplay restarts have been fixed.
- Resolved a challenge failure inconsistency when destroying Radar Buoys in Zoness.
Battle Mode Bugs
- Bug fixes preventing crashes when initiating an Online Battle match.
- Improvements to ensure normal game progression for participants when the host loses connection.
- Score calculation errors have been remedied, specifically related to high score thresholds.
- Fixed an issue with Arwing wing durability following expert mode challenges.
- Restoration of somersault and U-turn functionality after interrupted play sessions.
Other Adjustments
In addition to the above fixes, the update has addressed compatibility issues with third-party USB cameras, ensuring they work correctly with the Star Fox game. However, not every third-party camera is guaranteed to function properly.
New Soundtrack Available
Alongside the game update, Nintendo has released the Star Fox Switch 2 soundtrack on its Nintendo Music app, featuring 62 tracks totaling over two hours of music for fans to enjoy.
