Season Opening Recap: Keiser University Women’s Swimming Performance
The Keiser University women’s swimming team kicked off its season with an impressive showing at the TYR Fall Classic, hosted by Florida International University. Competing against a field of six teams, which included NCAA Division I participants, the Seahawks secured a fifth-place finish with a total of 854 points.
Final Standings
The final team scores are as follows:
- 1. ECU – 1174 points
- 2. FIU – 1060.50 points
- 3. TU – 1018.50 points
- 4. FGCU – 984 points
- 5. Keiser University (KU) – 854 points
- 6. STU – 727 points
Event Highlights
This year’s TYR Fall Classic marked the second occasion for it to be held at the Doral Central Park Aquatic Center. Several notable performances were recorded:
- Kate Vorontsova achieved Keiser’s top individual result, placing fourth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.49.
- National Champion Alanis Santiago finished fifth in the 200 Freestyle and sixth in the 100 Freestyle.
- Graduate student Emilia Hellak made her debut for Keiser with a sixth-place finish in the 500 Freestyle.
- Senior Zselyke Papp placed sixth in the 100 Butterfly and participated in three of Keiser’s A relays.
- All four of Keiser’s A relays finished in sixth place.
- In diving, newcomer Hana Mesaric secured sixth in the 3-meter event, scoring 169.75 points.
Looking Ahead
The Seahawks will return to competitive action on Saturday, October 10, as they travel to Fort Myers, Florida, for a dual meet against Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) at the FGCU Aquatics Center.
