Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings Offered in Crosby
The Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is hosting a crucial health event on November 12, offering complimentary breast and cervical cancer screenings from 5 PM to 7 PM at its Crosby clinic. This program is aimed specifically at uninsured and under-insured women aged 40 and above.
Eligibility for Screenings
Women who wish to participate must meet certain income qualifications. The term “under-insured” applies to those who possess some health coverage that does not adequately cover the expenses associated with necessary screenings for breast and cervical cancer.
These free screenings are intended to bridge the financial gap, ensuring women can access vital healthcare services without the burden of cost.
Partnership and Community Commitment
This health initiative is part of a collaboration with SAGE and the Minnesota Department of Health’s screening program for cervical and breast cancer. This partnership underscores CRMC’s dedication to making essential healthcare accessible to all members of the community.
Importance of Early Detection
Early detection of breast and cervical cancers significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Guidelines recommend that women at average risk for breast cancer commence annual mammography screenings at age 40, and cervical cancer screening should begin with a Pap test at age 21.
How to Register
Women interested in finding out if they qualify for the free screenings are encouraged to contact CRMC at 218-545-1043. Attendees will be treated to light refreshments during the event and will receive a complimentary swag bag as a token of appreciation.
