Crypto Whale Activity: BTC Sell-Offs and ETH Accumulation
Current Market Movements
This week, the cryptocurrency market saw notable activity among major players, as Bitcoin (BTC) whales sold approximately $2.52 billion worth of Bitcoin, while Ethereum (ETH) whales increased their holdings by around $162 million worth of Ethereum. In contrast, XRP whales have remained inactive during this period.
Bitcoin Whales Trim Their Holdings
Prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez shared insights on social media platform X, revealing that Bitcoin whale wallets have decreased by approximately 30,000 BTC, signifying a reduction in exposure from these major holders.
Ethereum Whales Ramp Up Accumulation
Amidst the selling of Bitcoin, Ethereum whales displayed a contrasting trend, accumulating about 60,000 ETH over the same time frame. This buildup signals a continued interest in Ethereum despite recent market fluctuations.
XRP Whales Maintain Position
Unlike their counterparts in Bitcoin and Ethereum, XRP whales have shown little to no movement, holding steady at approximately 3.90 billion XRP tokens with negligible changes in their holdings.
ETF Flow Trends and Their Implications
The recent trading patterns are further reflected in ETF flows. For the first time in nine days, Bitcoin ETFs experienced a substantial outflow of $148.69 million, following an impressive inflow of roughly $3.08 billion during that period, as reported by SoSoValue. Contributing to this outflow, Fidelity’s FBTC fund alone accounted for $125.58 million, representing 84.5% of the total.
Ethereum ETFs similarly faced a downturn, ending a seven-day streak of inflows totaling $850.78 million, which was followed by outflows of approximately $62.39 million. Notably, while BTC saw an outflow equating to about 0.14% of its net assets, Ethereum faced a larger relative selling pressure at approximately 0.34%.
