Farmingdale State Women’s Tennis Team Triumphs Over William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. — The Farmingdale State College (FSC) women’s tennis team continues its winning streak, securing their fourth consecutive victory with a decisive 6-1 win against William Paterson University on Saturday afternoon. With this success, the Rams have improved their season record to 5-5, commencing a critical five-match road stretch.

Doubles Matches Overview

The Rams dominated the doubles competition, sweeping all three matches against the Pioneers (2-2). The pairing of freshman Ana Hernandez from Valley Stream, N.Y., and sophomore Marybeth Zimos from Hicksville, N.Y., recorded an impressive 6-0 shutout in the third doubles flight. In the second slot, sophomore Kaelin Burnett from East Islip, N.Y., and freshman Emma Johannsen from Verplanck, N.Y., achieved a 6-1 win over their opponents Hilary Valdez and Nadine Mari. The day was rounded out by the senior duo of Natalia Furchel from Manorville, N.Y., and Gabriella Loria from Levittown, N.Y., who triumphed over William Paterson’s Isabella Paladino and Allison Stein.

Singles Matches Breakdown

Farmingdale State continued its strong performance in singles, winning five out of six matches. Loria led the way, achieving a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory against Valdez in the No. 3 singles match. Meanwhile, Johannsen faced minimal resistance from Makayla Yancey, allowing her to take the fifth flight 6-0, 6-1. Burnett and Hernandez also contributed crucial points for the team, overcoming Stein and Mari in the No. 2 and No. 4 slots with scores of 7-5, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-4, respectively. Furchel capped off the successful singles run, winning her No. 1 matchup against Paladino; after winning a tiebreaker 7-2, she completed the match in straight sets, winning the second set 6-0.

The Fighting Rams will look to maintain their momentum as they head back on the road this coming Monday, October 5, 2026. They are set to face Manhattanville University at 4 PM in Purchase, N.Y. The upcoming match promises to be an exciting challenge for the team as they strive to extend their winning streak.
