Amazon Launches Revamped Kindle Lineup for 20th Anniversary

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Amazon has completely refreshed its Kindle e-reader collection, introducing new designs and features across several models. Customers can already order the latest devices, though most will not be shipped until late October.

New Kindle Models Unveiled

On October 1, Amazon announced the release of several updated Kindle models, including:

  • Standard Kindle
  • Kindle Paperwhite
  • Kindle Colorsoft
  • Kid-friendly versions of each model

In addition, Amazon is launching a range of new accessories, highlighted by the Kindle Click — a remote designed to streamline page-turning. The remote includes two large haptic buttons along with additional controls for screen brightness.

Design and Features

The latest Kindle models feature a slimmer and lighter design, now available in exciting new colors such as ube, alpine sky, and seaglass green. The standard Kindle has been enhanced with a flush-front display and an optional aluminum back, a feature previously found only in the Signature Editions of the Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft.

Pricing and Availability

Despite a recent increase in prices of $30 to $50 due to a global memory shortage, the new Kindle devices are being offered at the same price points as their predecessors. Key details include:

  • New standard Kindle and Kindle Kids available now for purchase.
  • Kindle Paperwhite, Colorsoft, and most accessories are available for preorder, with a joint release set for October 28.
  • Accessories begin at $35 and include innovative options like a cover with physical page-turn buttons and a charging stand for Kindle Paperwhite models.

Future Releases

While customers eagerly await the new products, Amazon has yet to announce a specific launch date for the charging stand. However, interested shoppers can sign up on the company’s website to receive email notifications when it becomes available.

Conclusion

With these updates, Amazon continues to refine its Kindle lineup, offering users improved functionality and modern designs. Keep an eye out for potential deals during Amazon’s upcoming Prime Big Deal Days, where discounts on these new products might be featured.
