Florida Mother Faces Charges for Leaving Four Children Alone During Cruise

A woman from North Miami Beach, Florida, has been arrested and charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving her four minor children unattended while she embarked on a weekend cruise. The charges were brought against 29-year-old Nathalie Belizaire, who is accused of neglecting her children, one of whom is just two months old.

According to law enforcement reports, the situation came to light when the father of Belizaire’s infant child observed a WhatsApp story that suggested she had purchased a cruise ticket. Concerned for the children’s safety, he contacted her, and she assured him that she would leave them with their great-grandmother. However, when he visited her apartment on Saturday night, he noticed signs of life inside, prompting him to call 911.

Upon arrival, officers from the North Miami Beach Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue forced entry into the residence. Inside, they found all four children unsupervised and hiding together in a bathroom. Body camera footage captured officers escorting the children outside to safety.

Investigation Findings

An investigation revealed that Belizaire had indeed purchased a three-day cruise ticket to the Bahamas aboard the Carnival Conquest, set to sail on September 25. Authorities noted that Belizaire left her children alone in the apartment without any adult supervision while she traveled. The children’s great-grandmother reported that Belizaire had communicated she would be bringing the children over but subsequently failed to do so.
