NVIDIA Increases Price of Shield TV Pro
NVIDIA has announced a price hike for its Shield TV Pro, raising it from $199.99 to $299.99. This change will take effect on October 2, 2026. Initially launched in October 2019 at the same price, the Shield TV Pro has maintained this price for nearly seven years prior to the adjustment.
Reasons Behind the Price Increase
In an official statement, NVIDIA explained the decision was largely influenced by the significant increase in component costs, particularly for memory. Andrew Bell, NVIDIA’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ongoing support for the Shield TV line, with no plans to discontinue the product.
“Starting October 2, SHIELD Pro will be priced at $299. The cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry. We’ve also stopped producing the standard SHIELD TV model as we focus on production for SHIELD TV Pro.”
Current Models Available
With the discontinuation of the standard tube-shaped Shield TV, the Shield TV Pro is now the sole model in active production. Despite the price increase, the hardware specifications for the Shield TV Pro remain unchanged, featuring:
- Tegra X1+ chip
- 3 GB of RAM
- 16 GB of storage
- Support for 4K HDR with Dolby Vision
Impact on International Pricing
The price increase has not been limited to the United States; reports indicate that the Shield TV Pro is also priced at €299 in both the Netherlands and Belgium, which reflects a €100 rise from its previous cost.
Current Market Trends
This pricing adjustment comes amidst broader challenges in the memory industry, with ongoing shortages of older memory types such as DDR4 and LPDDR4. These shortages have persisted since late 2025 and contribute to the rising costs in hardware components.
Lack of Successor Announcement
Currently, NVIDIA has not disclosed any plans for a successor to the Shield TV series, leaving consumers to navigate the raised pricing of the existing model.
