Citigroup Optimizes Bitcoin and Ether Forecasts Amid ETF Inflows
Revised Price Predictions
Financial services leader Citigroup has adjusted its price forecasts for Bitcoin and Ether, reflecting market dynamics and encouraging economic trends. In a recent note issued on Wednesday, the investment giant raised its 12-month outlook for Bitcoin to $113,000, up from a previous estimate of $82,000. For Ether, the new target is set at $3,028, an increase from the earlier prediction of $2,240.
Market Influences
The adjustments come as Citigroup anticipates a resurgence in inflows into exchange-traded funds (ETFs), alongside an overall positive macroeconomic environment. The updated forecasts suggest potential increases of approximately 35% for Bitcoin and 12% for Ether based on current market prices.
- Current Bitcoin Price: $83,643.12
- Current Ether Price: $2,685.90
ETF Inflow Expectations
Citi projects a gradual yet steady influx of capital into cryptocurrency products like ETFs, estimating around $5 billion in new investments over the forthcoming 12 months. This comes after a tumultuous period earlier in the year when U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded significant net outflows totaling $5.8 billion by mid-July. However, by late September, there has been a notable shift, with net inflows for the year reaching $800 million.
Regulatory Environment
Despite the U.S. Senate’s inability to advance the Clarity Act in recent weeks, Citigroup has pointed out that subsequent rulings by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have improved market sentiment. The firm considers these developments as a “temporary but meaningful positive,” indicating a more favorable regulatory outlook for cryptocurrency investments.
