Kutztown University Women’s Golf Team at Michael Corbett Fall Classic
ERIE, Pa. – The opening round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic held at Whispering Woods Golf Club saw the Kutztown University women’s golf team secure a commendable fifth place in the standings, with a total of three rounds recorded in the 80s.
Individual Performances
Leading the team was Brooke Graham from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, who recorded an 8-over par 80. Her round featured one birdie and an impressive 11 pars, positioning her 13th overall out of 51 participants and only five shots away from breaking into the top five.
Grace Klements, from Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, equaled her season-best score by shooting an 84. This score included two birdies, achieved during a crucial three-hole stretch. Klements began her birdie streak on the par-3 second hole and continued with another on the par-4 fourth hole, finishing in 20th place overall.
Freshman Livia Andov from Pekanbaru, Indonesia, scored an 88, earning her 26th place with seven pars. Gabby Cohen, coming off a strong performance at the previous Kutztown Fall Invitational, shot 90 with four pars. Newcomer Eva Moawad from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, contributed two birdies and completed the round with a score of 92.
Team Standings
At the end of the first round, host institution Gannon University led the pack with a score of 13-over 301. They were followed by Walsh University with a score of 308 (+20), Charleston (W.Va.)’s ‘A’ squad at 311 (+23), and their ‘B’ squad sitting at 320 (+32).
Top Individuals
In individual play, Alice Andersson of Charleston’s ‘B’ squad and Sydney Hugo of Walsh University emerged as leaders, each carding rounds of 1-under 71.
Upcoming Rounds
The second round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic is set to commence at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, with expectations high for continued strong performances from the Kutztown team.
