Fordham Women’s Basketball Welcomes Two New Recruits
BRONX, N.Y. — Fordham University women’s basketball Head Coach Bridgette Mitchell has announced the addition of two new recruits for the upcoming season: Adora Nwude and Denver Carlton. Both players bring impressive backgrounds and skills that align well with the team’s goals.
Adora Nwude
Position: Guard | Height: 5-8 | Hometown: Vienna, Va.
Adora Nwude is set to join the Rams after a standout senior year at the Bullis School in Maryland. Known for her scoring abilities and defensive skills, Nwude is a key player for the team that ranked No. 3 in the state last season. During her junior year, she helped the Bullis School secure a 24-8 overall record and an 11-3 mark in the region.
Throughout her high school career, Nwude has averaged 12 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game over the past two years. She has tallied over 800 points and recorded more than 300 steals, demonstrating her efficiency with nearly a 50% shooting percentage. Last season, she improved to over 55% from the field. Nwude has consistently been recognized for her talent, earning First-Team All-League honors during each of her three seasons, including her freshman year where she was named Rookie of the Year in the Liberty District.
Additionally, Nwude achieved success on the club circuit, clinching a championship at the Nike Nationals and receiving selections for the New Balance Elite Camp. Her contributions led her team to share the Independent School League (ISL) Championship.
Coach Mitchell commented on Nwude’s arrival, stating, “Adora comes from a winning culture, where she has been an important part of their success due to her scoring ability at all three levels and her defensive skills. She’s also an exceptional student, making her a perfect fit for our program. I look forward to her contributions from day one!”
Denver Carlton
Position: Guard | Height: 5-10 | Hometown: Ashburn, Va.
Denver Carlton will bring her strong performance from St. James Academy after previously attending Bishop O’Connell High School, where she spent her first three years. Carlton is poised to lead her new team with impactful play alongside her club coach, Tamika Dudley.
During her time with Team Durant on the club circuit, Carlton’s skills shone brightly as she propelled her team to the U17 EYBL Final Four. The previous year, she was the leading scorer in the EYBL for the U16 division, contributing significantly to her team’s impressive ranking. In high school, she served as team captain for her last two seasons and garnered accolades such as Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year following her junior year.
Coach Mitchell expressed her enthusiasm about Carlton, stating, “Deni is a dynamic player who will be very disruptive on the defensive end due to her length and athleticism. Her ability to knock down threes and attack the rim will definitely strengthen our offensive strategy. Deni knows and loves the game, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our Ramily!”
