BJP Critiques NC Government’s Promises in Jammu and Kashmir
On November 3, 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a press conference at its headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, where it voiced strong criticisms of the National Conference (NC) Government. Party representatives argued that the NC has deceived the residents of Jammu and Kashmir with empty promises and politically driven schemes.
Claims of Deceptive Politics
BJP spokesperson Rajni Sethi, joined by Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, the media in-charge for J&K BJP, and Poonam Gupta from the Mahila Morcha, accused the NC Government of being skilled at providing “lollypops” to the public—temporary benefits that lack a sustainable developmental plan.
Examples of Hollow Promises
Sethi specifically highlighted the “free bus service for women,” introduced by the NC Government in April 2025, as a prime example of this so-called gimmick politics. She stated, “The scheme was projected as a landmark welfare measure but was, in fact, designed to gain sympathy and votes from women. Now, within a year, the Government itself is considering withdrawing it, terming it a financial burden,” referring to statements made by Transport Minister Satish Sharma.
Questioning Accountability
This proposed withdrawal raised questions about the NC Government’s planning capabilities. Sethi asked, “If they had no financial roadmap, why introduce such a scheme? Why play with the emotions of women for electoral advantage?”
Emphasizing the perspicacity of women voters in Jammu and Kashmir, she asserted that they are no longer susceptible to such short-term electoral tactics. “The politically aware women of J&K can no longer be misled by such tactics of the party,” she concluded.
