Authorities in northern Manitoba have announced charges against two women stemming from an incident involving the forcible confinement and assault of three women in Moose Lake. The event occurred over the weekend and has raised significant concern in the local community.

On Monday morning at approximately 8 a.m., a 29-year-old woman contacted police to report that she and two companions, aged 27 and 24, had been held against their will in a residence. According to their testimony, the women were accused of theft by the residence’s occupants, leading to their confinement and subsequent assault.

During their ordeal, the victims reported the presence of dangerous items such as machetes, bear mace, and a sawed-off shotgun. Authorities took immediate action following the report, leading to a search of the home.
Police Response
Upon arrival, officers conducted a thorough search of the residence, where they seized an array of weapons, cash, and ammunition. Notably, the search was part of an ongoing investigation that originally sought to obtain a warrant for the property for unrelated reasons.
Arrests Made
In total, nine adults were apprehended following the incident, though five were subsequently released without charges. The two women involved in the alleged assault, aged 28 and 31, now face charges of forcible confinement and assault.
Additionally, a 33-year-old man was taken into custody due to several outstanding warrants and charged with resisting arrest. Another man, aged 40, was charged with possession of property obtained through criminal activity and was later granted release under specific conditions.
