PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In an exciting clash at Meehan Auditorium, the Providence College women’s hockey team triumphed over No. 11/11 Brown University, securing a 3-2 victory in overtime during the 30th Mayor’s Cup held on Saturday, November 29. This win boosted the Friars’ record to 5-10-2, while the Bears fell to 8-4-1.

Game Highlights
- Brown took an early lead just 1:43 into the game with a goal by Olivia Fantino, assisted by Zoe Li and Ava DeCoste.
- Regardless of the aggressive exchanges, neither team managed to score in the first period, although Providence outshot Brown 7-5 and successfully killed off one power play.

- Providence then took the lead at 8:20, thanks to junior Audrey Knapp’s goal, supported by seniors Sarah Davies and Reichen Kirchmair.
- However, with 7:39 left in regulation, Ava DeCoste responded for Brown, leveling the game again with assistance from Fantino and Cadence Richards.
- As the match progressed into overtime, Knapp sealed the win for the Friars with her second goal of the night at 2:14 in the extra period, with assists from senior Cristina Cavaliere and Kirchmair.
This victory marked Knapp’s 15th career multi-point game and fourth of the season. Graduate student goalie Hope Walinski recorded 22 saves, contributing significantly to the win.
