Bellarmine Knights Basketball: Game Recap and Upcoming Matchup

Recent Game Recap

In a closely contested match held in Knights Hall, the Bellarmine University women’s basketball team faced Eastern Illinois, ultimately falling short with a score of 68-63.

Despite their loss, Bellarmine (2-6) demonstrated resilience, especially in the second half, where junior guard Triniti Ralston played a pivotal role. Ralston scored 18 of her season-high 25 points during this period, wrapping up the game with an impressive 8-for-16 shooting performance and maintaining a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. She also contributed seven rebounds and led the team with four assists.

Challenges Faced

The Knights have been navigating a challenging season, dealing with injuries that left them with only seven available players by the end of this matchup. They entered halftime trailing narrowly by one point, 34-33, but Eastern Illinois (1-6) managed to extend their lead in the third quarter.

Down by as much as 14 points in the final minutes, Bellarmine surged back with a commendable 11-0 run. Andrea Chiquemba played a crucial role during this stretch, scoring critical points including a three-pointer. Ralston added to the momentum with two impressive three-point plays that narrowed the gap to just three points.

Final Stages of the Match

Following a controversial foul call against Bellarmine, Eastern Illinois’s Ava Stoller capitalized on her free throw opportunity, adding to her team-high total of 21 points. Despite the Knights’ best efforts, they couldn’t overcome the Panthers’ lead.

Chiquemba also shined during the game, scoring 12 points and marking her second consecutive game with double digits. The team performed well at the line, converting 16 of their 19 free-throw attempts.

Looking Ahead: Next Game

Bellarmine’s next challenge will be against the No. 23 University of Louisville. This matchup is scheduled for November 30, 2025, at 2 PM ET, taking place at the KFC Yum! Center. Fans can follow the action via radio on 1450 AM/96.1 FM.
