Khanyisa Bafazi Training Programme Launches in Buffalo City
The Khanyisa Bafazi Training Programme officially launched in Buffalo City on Tuesday, focusing on enhancing women’s leadership in local business ventures. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap in business opportunities available to women and challenge prevailing gender stereotypes.
Addressing Business Inequities
Research indicates that women entrepreneurs often encounter significant barriers, including limited access to business resources and pervasive gender biases. The Khanyisa Bafazi Training Programme, spearheaded by innovation incubator WomHub, aims to transform side hustles into thriving enterprises.
Programme Objectives
The training provides participants with essential skills in several key areas:
- Financial Literacy
- Digital Empowerment
- Business Formalization
- Sustainable Growth
- Peer Networking
According to Nomfundo Mkhonto from WomHub, “We’ve seen the incredible resilience and innovative spirit of Buffalo City women and we want to provide them with the tools, confidence, and the network they need to formalize their ‘hustles’. Our purpose is to help them build lasting legacies, not just for themselves, but for their families and communities.”
Certification and Networking Opportunities
Participants who complete the programme will receive a certification and gain access to WomHub’s extensive alumni network. This network offers ongoing mentorship, peer learning, and potential funding opportunities.
Inclusive Empowerment Efforts
Bonnie Currin, Managing Director at Current Consulting and Deputy Chair of the Border Kei Chamber of Business (BKCOB) women’s forum, emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in such programs. She advocates for initiatives that enhance skills in entrepreneurship, digital literacy, networking, and leadership tailored for women from diverse backgrounds.
Support from Local Innovation Hubs
Local innovation center Cortex Hub is also a partner in this initiative. Lunga Feni from Cortex Hub stated, “We hope this initiative grows into a long-term platform that equips women to take ownership of their ventures and compete confidently.”
