On March 16, the 32-team lineup for the 2025 Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT) was unveiled. Virginia Tech, James Madison, Saint Joseph’s, and Colorado earned automatic bids and secured the top four seeds, emerging as the first four teams excluded from the 2025 NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament.

First Round: Thursday, March 20 | ESPN+

Selection Criteria for WBIT Teams
The top four teams that did not qualify for the NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament, as determined by the Division I women’s basketball selection committee, automatically qualify for the WBIT and receive top four seeds.

Additionally, regular season champions from DI conferences that do not participate in the NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament will also gain automatic entry, provided they are eligible and not undergoing reclassification. The remaining teams will be selected as at-large bids by the WBIT selection committee.
The initial rounds (first, second, and quarterfinal) will take place at campus locations, before transitioning to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for both the semifinals and the championship game.
