Miami University Expands Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff
OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University has welcomed Avery Wright as the new assistant coach for its women’s basketball team, announced by head coach Glenn Box.
Wright’s Commitment to Team Success
Expressing her enthusiasm about the role, Wright stated, “I’m extremely grateful to Coach Box for this opportunity and excited to get right to work with the rest of the staff. Coach Box has proven himself as an outstanding winner on the court, but as I got to know him personally, he emerged as a phenomenal person to know. This made my decision to work for him easy. I’m thrilled to be part of the great culture he has built and to contribute to the program’s success.”
Previous Experience and Roles
Before joining Miami University, Wright served as the Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Operations for the women’s basketball program at Xavier University. During her tenure there, she effectively managed team and recruiting travel and played a vital role in recruiting initiatives. She also handled team scheduling, camp operations, and the distribution of team gear, alongside coordinating efforts for name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities.
Broader Contributions in Sports Management
Wright’s career also includes various positions that have enriched her expertise in sports management. Most recently, she worked as a Championship Assistant with the Big 12 Conference in 2023. Prior to that, she was a Graduate Assistant for the Oklahoma State University women’s basketball team during the 2022-2023 season, held an internship in the Athletic Director’s office at Texas Tech from 2020 to 2021, and served as a Student Assistant for the South Plains College women’s basketball team in 2016.
Educational Background
Avery Wright earned her undergraduate degree in 2020 and completed her master’s degree in 2021, both from Texas Tech University.
