Women’s Water Polo Highlights
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a fantastic showcase of talent, the Harvard women’s water polo team triumphed over both Saint Francis and Bucknell this past Saturday, kicking off the CWPA conference weekend with two impressive victories.
In their first match, the Crimson dominated SFU with a score of 17-9. They followed this with another outstanding performance against Bucknell, where they restricted their opponents to just four goals, ultimately winning 18-4.
With this success, Harvard now boasts a 3-0 record in conference play and has extended its winning streak to seven games, improving their overall season record to 9-1.
Game 1: Harvard 17, SFU 9
Lucy Berkman contributed two goals to the team’s scoreline. Heidi Heffelfinger had a standout performance, ending the match with five points from two goals and three assists. Erin Kim added four points with a goal and three assists, while Emma Gilbert excelled with four goals and one assist. A total of 11 different players found the net for Harvard.
In the net, Orli Cooper excelled with nine saves during the first, third, and fourth quarters, while Sutchie Ofori-Nyako made three key saves in the second quarter.
Game 2: Harvard 18, Bucknell 4
Heffelfinger continued her impressive form, scoring another four goals and providing an assist. Maya O’Dea stepped up with a hat-trick and an assist, while both Emma Gilbert and Nikki Piovan chipped in with two goals each. Harvard established a strong lead, finishing the first quarter at 5-0 and leading 12-1 by halftime after an explosive seven-goal second quarter.
Both goalkeepers played pivotal roles, with Cooper making seven saves and Ofori-Nyako adding three saves in the second match.
