RIT Women’s Volleyball Faces Defeat Against William Smith
GENEVA, N.Y. – The RIT Women’s Volleyball team suffered a loss on Wednesday, falling to Liberty League competitor William Smith with a score of 3-0, featuring set scores of 25-17, 25-8, and 25-19.
Match Overview
The match showcased a series of challenges for the Tigers, as they struggled to maintain momentum throughout. In the first set, William Smith established a solid lead, jumping ahead 12-5. Although RIT attempted to respond with a 6-3 run, narrowing the gap to 15-11, the Herons surged ahead to secure a decisive 23-13 lead, propelled by a 6-point rally.
The second set was dominated by William Smith, who capitalized on a series of mistakes from RIT, scoring 12 consecutive points to take an 18-4 advantage. The Herons finished strong, winning the final seven of eight points in the set.
In the final set, RIT remained competitive initially, coming back from a 10-9 deficit with a 5-3 run to equalize at 13-13. However, the Herons responded powerfully, marking a 7-2 run to take a 20-15 lead. Despite a late push from RIT to reduce the margin to 20-18, William Smith clinched the match by winning five of the last six points.
