Providence College Women’s Track Team Shines at Terrier Classic
BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College women’s track team made a strong showing at the Terrier Classic held at Boston University on Friday, January 31, 2025. Senior Kimberley May from Auckland, New Zealand, led the charge by setting a new school record in the 3,000 meters, finishing fourth overall and second among collegiate athletes with an impressive time of 8:44.73.
Sophomore Maeve O’Neill of Cork, Ireland, also had a standout performance, breaking the school record in the 500 meters. She secured a fourth-place finish with a remarkable time of 1:12.48.
In the mile event, graduate student Shannon Flockhart from Longstanton, England, delivered an outstanding performance, placing ninth overall and becoming the top collegiate finisher with a time of 4:31.71. Additionally, sophomore Kiera Hall from Christchurch, New Zealand, achieved a personal best in the mile, clocking in at 4:49.30.
Graduate student Alex Millard from Kent, England, competed in the 5,000 meters and emerged as the leading collegiate athlete, finishing 12th overall with a time of 15:22.71. Notably, this time ranks as the seventh fastest in the NCAA for the current season.
Junior Jill Fenerty from Franklin, Mass., competed in the 400 meters, finishing 15th with a time of 56.45.
The Friar women’s track team is set to compete again on February 14-15 at the BU Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as the team continues to showcase their talent and determination.
