RIT Women’s Track & Field Team Shines at Cardinal Classic
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The RIT women’s track and field team demonstrated impressive performances at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Saturday, marking their final meet before the upcoming Liberty League Outdoor Championships.
Outstanding Performances
Senior thrower Emily DiMarco led the Tigers with a notable achievement, securing first place in the discus with a regional qualifying distance of 40.90 meters. DiMarco also achieved a commendable third place in the shot put, recording a distance of 11.79 meters.
Fellow senior athlete Sonya Shivok made her mark in the javelin, finishing second with a throw of 34.93 meters, which also met the regional qualifying standards.
Junior sprinter and jumper Rania Sabri excelled as well, achieving second place in the triple jump with an impressive leap of 11.10 meters. On the track, she showcased her speed by finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.15 seconds, a personal best that qualified for the regionals.

What’s Next
The RIT Tigers will host the 2025 Liberty League Outdoor Championships the following weekend (May 2-3) at the RIT Track & Field Complex. The event will kick off with the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon on Friday at noon, followed by track event prelims starting at 2 p.m.
