FGCU Women’s Tennis Set to Compete in Georgia
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Riding high on the waves of their recent victories, the Florida Gulf Coast University women’s tennis team is gearing up for a challenging weekend in Georgia.
The Eagles, currently with a record of 2-1, will kick off their weekend with a match against Georgia Southern on Saturday at 1 p.m. The match time was adjusted from the original schedule of 10 a.m. due to weather considerations.
On Sunday, FGCU will face Mercer University at noon. This match was rescheduled from Friday, as low temperatures in Macon forced a postponement.
Fresh off their strong performance, the Eagles celebrated a 5-2 win over Middle Tennessee State University on Friday, followed by a 4-2 triumph against Minnesota on Saturday.
Ashley Matz has been recognized as this week’s Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week for her impressive achievements, securing two singles victories and one doubles victory on court No. 1.
Georgia Southern enters this matchup with a record of 1-1, coming off a tough 6-1 loss to No. 25 UCF. Meanwhile, Mercer (0-1) faced Georgia Tech, suffering a similar 6-1 defeat.
