Harvard Women’s Tennis Shines at Fall Invitational

On the opening day of the Harvard Fall Invitational held in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Harvard women’s tennis team secured five victories in both doubles and singles matches against Boston College competitors.

Doubles Highlights

The day commenced with doubles action, where Harvard’s Kavya Karra and Natasha Rajaram prevailed in the only doubles match for the Crimson. They faced Tola Glowacka and Nadia Barteck from Boston College, winning a hard-fought encounter 7-5.

Other results from the doubles matches included:

  • Seren Agar/Alexandra Torre (Boston College) defeated Claire Shao/Polina Krumkachev (Harvard), 6-4
  • Olivia Benton/Leyden Games (Boston College) defeated Kate Kim/Charlotte Owensby (Harvard), 6-3

Singles Success

Transitioning to singles, the Crimson achieved a remarkable four wins. Highlights included standout performances from Karra, Claire Shao, Andra Braicu, and Kate Kim.

Freshman Andra Braicu made her collegiate debut, showcasing her talent by defeating Alexandra Torre in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3—a promising start to her Harvard career.

Both Shao and Karra further enhanced their seasons, each boasting a 7-2 record. Shao topped Olivia Benton with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-6, while Karra overcame Glowacka, 6-2, 6-4. Kim secured the final victory of the day, overcoming Bella Camacho in a closely contested match that ended with a tiebreak win of 10-6 after splitting the first two sets 6-2 and 6-7.

  • Leyden Games (Boston College) def. Polina Krumkachev (Harvard), 6-3, 7-5
  • Kavya Karra (Harvard) def. Tola Glowacka (Boston College), 6-2, 6-4
  • Nadia Barteck (Boston College) def. Natasha Rajaram (Harvard), 6-1, 7-6
  • Andra Braicu (Harvard) def. Alexandra Torre (Boston College), 6-3, 6-3
  • Kate Kim (Harvard) def. Bella Camacho (Boston College), 6-2, 6-7, 10-6

Upcoming Matches

Harvard will continue its fall season by closing out its home matches on Sunday, November 2, with the first match starting at 10:00 a.m. in Cambridge.
