Stonehill Women’s Tennis Season Opener Canceled
WEST HAVEN, Conn. (September 6, 2025) – The Stonehill College women’s tennis team commenced its 2025-26 season with a matchup against Northeast Conference (NEC) rival New Haven. The highly anticipated event, however, was cut short due to adverse weather conditions after the doubles matches concluded.
Match Summary
In the doubles competition, Stonehill secured the crucial doubles point, achieving victories in both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
- No. 1 Doubles: Junior Julie Holte and sophomore Lilah Shallcross triumphed with a 6-4 win against New Haven’s Valentinna Ferrarini and Pierina Lescher.
- No. 3 Doubles: The duo of Piper Remillard and Arya Chabria clinched the doubles point for the Skyhawks, winning 6-3 against Leni Bischof and Petra Horvath.
Unfortunately, as the teams transitioned to singles play, inclement weather forced a suspension of the match, which was subsequently canceled.
Looking Ahead
Despite the cancellation, Stonehill will be looking to bounce back next weekend. The team is set to travel to Smithfield, Rhode Island, for the two-day Bryant Invitational, scheduled for September 13, 2025.
