Farmingdale State Women’s Tennis Defeats Mount Saint Vincent
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State College women’s tennis team concluded its undefeated Skyline Conference regular season with a commanding 7-0 victory over Mount Saint Vincent on Monday evening.
With this win, the Rams finish the season with a record of 9-4 overall and a perfect 7-0 in Skyline Conference play, securing the top seed for the upcoming 2025 Skyline Conference Women’s Tennis Championship. Farmingdale will advance to host the fourth-seeded Yeshiva University in a semifinal match on Wednesday, October 22, at 4:30 p.m.
Match Highlights
The Rams quickly established control of the match by sweeping all three doubles points, leading the Dolphins (1-8, 0-7) 1-0 from the outset. Key performances included:
- Junior Natalia Furchel (Manorville, N.Y.) and freshman Martine McGowan (Port Washington, N.Y.) winning their top-flight doubles match after their opponents retired.
- Senior MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and freshman Kaelin Burnett (East Islip, N.Y.) achieving a decisive 6-0 victory in the second flight.
- Senior Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and junior Marybeth Zimos (Hicksville, N.Y.) completing the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win in the third flight.
Singles Performances
Furchel also secured her first singles match through retirement, while Gisler and McGowan contributed to the team’s success with victories in their respective third and second singles flights. With this achievement, Gisler has become the career doubles wins leader for Farmingdale State with 51 wins.
Final Matches
In the fourth to sixth singles positions, senior Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.), DeMaria, and senior Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) all concluded their regular-season play with individual wins, rounding out a dominant performance by the Rams.
