McPherson College Bulldogs Clinch KCAC Tournament Title
LINDSBORG, Kan. – McPherson College recently achieved a remarkable victory in the KCAC Tournament, defeating Oklahoma Wesleyan with a decisive score of 4-0. This win marks the Bulldogs’ second consecutive championship title, bringing their season record to an impressive 21-7.
Match Highlights
The Bulldogs commenced the championship match with momentum, securing the crucial doubles point early on. Notably, the duo of Bella Ellerbee and Taimi Nashiku showcased their tenacity by clinching a hard-fought 7-5 victory. Meanwhile, Pia Hinricher and Laureen Van Drunen dominated their competitors, achieving a dominating 6-0 win at the No. 3 doubles position.
Singles Success
Maintaining their strong performance, Nashiku continued her winning streak with an impressive 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles. Hinricher followed suit with her own victory of 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, while Ellerbee delivered a flawless performance at the No. 6 slot, winning 6-0, 6-0. With these results, the Bulldogs had already secured the championship title before all matches concluded.
Match Status
As the remaining matches were played, Van Drunen was leading 7-5, 0-1 at No. 4 singles. Alexandria Garcia had taken the first set 6-1 but was trailing 3-2 in the second set, while Vanessa Hofer faced a challenging position, trailing 2-6, 1-4 at No. 2.
