ETSU Women’s Tennis Achieves Historic Ranking
TEMPE, Ariz. (Feb. 20, 2025) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its national Top 75 team rankings, recognizing the ETSU women’s tennis team with an impressive No. 58 spot. This ranking marks a significant milestone, representing the highest position the program has attained to date. Additionally, the talented duo of Daniela Rivera and Alessandra Caceres has earned a noteworthy No. 70 ranking in the national doubles category.
Strong Performance Amidst Challenges
The Bucs currently hold a 4-4 record this spring, having faced a demanding early-season schedule that included five matches against formidable power conference teams. Despite these challenges, the Blue and Gold have made an outstanding comeback, winning four of their last five matches, highlighted by a thrilling 4-3 victory against Minnesota last Saturday. The recent ranking surpasses the previous program record of No. 60 achieved last spring.
Outstanding Doubles Partnership
Rivera and Caceres have displayed exceptional talent this season, showcasing a strong 11-4 doubles record, which includes the fall season results. Currently riding a five-match winning streak, they were honored as the Southern Conference’s chosen doubles team to participate in the prestigious ITA Conference Masters Championship last November, where they competed fiercely against some of the country’s top pairs, finishing with a 1-1 record.
Looking Ahead
The Bucs are set to return to the court this Sunday for a match against VCU, with the first serve scheduled for 11 a.m. Their dedication and resilience promise an exciting season ahead.
