Oklahoma Women’s Tennis Team Achieves Academic Excellence
NORMAN – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has recognized seven players from the Oklahoma women’s tennis team as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Additionally, the Sooners have garnered the title of ITA All-Academic Team for the remarkable 15th consecutive time.
Scholar-Athlete Honorees
This year, the esteemed recognition was awarded to:
- Emma Staker
- Ava Catanzarite
- Alina Shcherbinina
- Chloé Noël
- Roisin Gilheany
- Emma Ghirardato
- Cara Mester
These athletes achieved a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year.
Outstanding Academic Performance
Among this year’s honorees, Catanzarite, Staker, and Ghirardato distinguished themselves by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA. Notably, this accolade marks the fourth Scholar-Athlete honor for both Catanzarite and Staker, while Shcherbinina and Gilheany have received it twice. For Noël, Ghirardato, and Mester, this is their first time being recognized.
Team Achievement
Oklahoma’s women’s tennis team recorded a commendable 3.60 cumulative GPA, securing its place as an ITA All-Academic Team. This accolade has been awarded to the Sooners annually since 2011 and 26 times out of the last 27 seasons.
