Summary of Day Two at the Franklin & Marshall Invite by Dickinson Women’s Swim Team
Lancaster, Pa. – On November 22, the Dickinson women’s swim team showcased strong performances during the second day of the Franklin & Marshall Invite. Junior Anna Gnagey highlighted the day by breaking the school record in the women’s 100 Backstroke, along with multiple impressive finishes from her teammates.
Preliminary Highlights
In the preliminary heats, first-year swimmer Alina Shipley marked a notable achievement, securing second place in the women’s 400 Individual Medley (IM) with a time of 4:39.10. Teammates, seniors Tori May and Emma Johnston, also made an impact, finishing sixth and seventh with times of 4:41.84 and 4:42.28, respectively, thereby qualifying for the finals.
Additionally, junior Anna Gnagey contributed a solid performance in the women’s 100 Butterfly, finishing ninth in 57.52 seconds, which allowed her to advance to the finals. Sophomore Caitlin Gross completed the women’s 200 Freestyle preliminaries in 2:00.86, placing 24th and qualifying for the finals as well.
In the women’s 100 Breaststroke, Gnagey was again a standout performer, finishing fourth in the preliminaries at 57.80 seconds, while first-year Natalie Bezanson and senior Bella Gerkin also moved into the finals with times of 1:08.06 and 1:09.01, respectively.
Final Results
As the finals commenced, Alina Shipley maintained her momentum, finishing fourth in the women’s 400 IM with a time of 4:39.83. Senior Emma Johnston followed closely behind, securing fifth place in 4:39.96, and Tori May completed the A-Final with an eighth-place finish at 4:43.88.
Anna Gnagey faced tough competition in the women’s 100 Fly finals, ultimately placing 11th with a time of 58.27 seconds. In the 100 Breaststroke finals, Bezanson finished 12th in 1:07.68, while Gerkin took 19th with a time of 1:09.37.
In a remarkable finale, Gnagey not only secured fourth place in the women’s 100 Backstroke but also broke the school record with a time of 57.22 seconds, surpassing the previous record by a mere tenth of a second. The evening concluded with the Red Devils competing in the women’s 200 Medley Relay, where the team, consisting of Gnagey, Bezanson, Johnston, and Gross, finished in eighth place with a time of 1:47.95.

The Dickinson women’s swim team is set to conclude the Franklin & Marshall Invite with Session Five starting at 10 a.m. and Session Six at 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 23.
