RPI Women’s Swimming Team Shines at MIT Invite
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women’s swimming team showcased their talent over the weekend at the MIT Invite held at the Zesiger Center Pool. The Engineers made a strong impression, with several swimmers reaching the finals of their respective events during the three-day competition.
Individual Performances
The following student-athletes achieved remarkable results in their individual events:
- Shannon Brown – 3rd place in 100 freestyle with a time of 51.92 seconds
- Sierra Pargett – 5th place in 100 freestyle, finishing in 52.76 seconds
- Colleen Whittaker – 6th place in 100 breaststroke with a new RPI women’s program record of 1:05.75
- Sierra Pargett – 6th place in 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:54.48
- Emma Wojnarowski – 6th place in 1650 freestyle, completing the race in 18:05.04
- Shannon Brown – 7th place in 50 freestyle with a time of 23.97 seconds
- Colleen Whittaker – 8th place in 200 IM, finishing in 2:09.70
- Audrey Lewis – 8th place in 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.75
- Sierra Pargett – 8th place in 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:15.74
- Ellie Tandlmayer – 8th place in 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:06.71
- Shannon Brown – 8th place in 200 freestyle, recording a time of 1:54.56
- Vera Korff – 10th place in 100 freestyle, finishing in 54.09 seconds
- Colleen Whittaker – 10th place in 100 butterfly, completing the race in 57.24 seconds
- Vera Korff – 10th place in 50 freestyle with a time of 24.13 seconds
- Gwenyth Snyder – 10th place in 1650 freestyle, finishing in 18:17.23
Relay Achievements
In addition to individual performances, the relay teams also earned impressive placements:
- 4th place – 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.22

* Brown set an RPI women’s 50 freestyle program record of 23.89 seconds during this event - 5th place – 400 freestyle relay, finishing in 3:31.15
• Team: Pargett, Korff, Whittaker, Brown - 6th place – 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:49.79
• Team: Rose, Pargett, Whittaker, Goddard - 7th place – 400 medley relay, finishing in 3:56.07
• Team: Steve, Whittaker, Rose, Brown - 7th place – 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.75
• Team: Brown, Whittaker, Rose, Korff
