Gustavus Adolphus College Women’s Swimming & Diving Team Triumphs in Season Opener
On Saturday afternoon, the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s swimming and diving team kicked off their season with a commanding victory over the Luther College Norse, finishing with a score of 194 to 103 in Saint Peter, Minnesota.
Outstanding Individual Performances
Annika Beck highlighted the meet with stellar performances, clinching first place in both the 1000 and 500 meter freestyle events, clocking in at 11:10.54 and 5:24.87, respectively. In the 200 freestyle, Leah Felton secured a victory with a time of 2:01.24 and placed second in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 55.58 seconds. Additionally, Katlyn Siers finished strong in the 50 freestyle, taking second place at 25.02 seconds.
Backstroke and Breaststroke Dominance
Joley Anderson proved dominant in the backstroke events, winning both the 100 and 50 backstroke races with impressive times of 1:01.51 and 27.87, respectively. Hadley Wartner also contributed significantly by finishing first in the 100 and 50 breaststroke events, registering times of 1:11.19 and 32.63.
Diving Achievements
In the diving competitions, Gabriella Stoudt led her team, securing second place in both the 3-meter dive (190.35 points) and the 1-meter dive (210.30 points).
Relay Success
The Gusties demonstrated their teamwork in the relay events as well, with the quartet of Anderson, Wartner, Witte, and Felton winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:53.04. They continued their strong performance by winning the 200 freestyle relay, led by Anderson, Siers, and Nola Fisher, achieving a time of 1:41.50.

Looking ahead, the Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team will host a dual meet against UW-Stevens Point and MSU-Mankato on Saturday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m. in the Vic Gustafson Pool.
