Women’s Softball Shines at The World Games 2025 with USA and Canada Victories

The World Games 2025 Women’s Softball competition commenced on August 13, 2025, in Chengdu, China. The event is set against a vibrant backdrop at the Xindu Better City Softball Arena, where a series of four dynamic matches marked the day’s festivities.

Teams participating in the Opening Round are organized into two groups:

• Group A: USA (#2), Chinese Taipei (#5), Netherlands (#6), China (#10)
• Group B: Japan (#1), Puerto Rico (#3), Canada (#4), Australia (#8)

Following the technical meeting held on August 12, official team rosters have been released and are now available for public viewing along with the Daily Report.

Match Highlights from August 13

USA Triumphs Over Chinese Taipei

The USA secured a solid victory against Chinese Taipei with a score of 4-0. Rachel Garcia delivered an impressive performance, maintaining a hitless and scoreless game over four innings, complemented by four strikeouts. Tiare Jennings contributed significantly, achieving two hits including a home run, while Janae Jefferson added two runs with a crucial hit in the second inning. For Chinese Taipei, only two hits were recorded by Li Szu-Shih and Chiang Ting-En. Ally Carda closed the game, allowing two hits and one walk in three innings.

Canada Edges Puerto Rico

In a thrilling encounter, Canada defeated Puerto Rico 11-9. Highlighted by a pivotal eight-run third inning, the match saw a fierce exchange with a total of 26 hits and 20 runs scored. Kianna Jones led with three hits, while Erika Polidori and Grace Messmer also made significant contributions. Despite the loss, Puerto Rico’s Janelle Martinez stood out with three hits, supporting her team with two RBIs.
