In a closely contested match, the UNCW women’s soccer team achieved their first win of the 2025 season, overcoming UNC-Greensboro with a score of 3-2 on Sunday evening at UNCG Soccer Stadium. This victory propelled UNCW to a season record of 1-1, while UNCG falls to 0-2.
Both teams showcased their offensive prowess, combining for 24 total shots, with 14 directed at goal. The match saw a notable moment in the 82nd minute when an own goal from UNCG sealed the Seahawks’ win.
“The team exhibited a champion’s spirit with this bounce back effort,” said head coach Chris Neal. “We had a challenging and disrupted week filled with different adversities. They showed how tough and together they are with this road victory. I’m very proud of the entire roster and coaching staff.”

The Seahawks started strong, with sophomore midfielder Allie Planeaux scoring her first goal of the season just nine minutes into the match, giving UNCW an early lead. This was followed by senior forward Ayanna Parker, who capitalized on a mishap by UNCG’s goalkeeper to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute.
