Upcoming Exhibition Match for No. 16 Santa Clara Women’s Soccer
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 16 Santa Clara women’s soccer team is preparing to host Sacramento State for their only exhibition match of the season. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stevens Stadium.
Last Year’s Performance
The Broncos concluded the previous season with an impressive record of 13 wins, 4 losses, and 4 draws, including a 6-1-3 mark in West Coast Conference (WCC) play. This victory secured the WCC title for the 14th time overall and the fourth time in the last five seasons. Remarkably, this also marked the 37th time in the last 38 years that the team recorded at least 10 wins.
NCAA Tournament Highlights
In the NCAA Tournament, Santa Clara opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over BYU. This triumph positioned them among only three teams—alongside Florida State and Penn State—to win an NCAA Tournament match in each of the last 11 seasons. However, the Broncos’ quest ended in the second round with a hard-fought 1-0 defeat to North Carolina, the eventual National Champion, with the lone goal scored in the final moments of the match.
Looking Ahead
As they gear up for the new season, Santa Clara has been favored to reclaim the WCC title, according to a poll conducted among the league’s head coaches.
Team Statistics and Key Players
- The Broncos outscored their opponents 42-17 last season, allowing multiple goals in just three matches.
- They dominated in shots, totaling 348 compared to their opponents’ 172, with shots on goal at 157 to 76.

Other notable returners include Tori Powell, who contributed four assists and four goals, and Kat Jordan, who added four goals and three assists. In total, seven returning players scored at least once last year.
New Additions to the Roster
This season also sees the addition of seven newcomers to the Broncos’ roster: Keira Martin, Rylan Cashman, Hildi Benediktsdottir, Jalana Kimber, Adee Goulden, Raygen Lewis, and Ally Harrison. All are expected to make an impact as first-year players.
