Match Overview

The Howard Bison women’s soccer team faced off against the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils on Sunday at the CCSU Soccer Field. The match concluded with a 1-1 draw, marking Howard’s second tie of the season and leaving their overall record at 2-4-2.

First Half Highlights

The scoring opened in the first half with the Blue Devils taking an early lead. In the 11th minute, Kayla Ward found the net after an assist from Leah Howe, putting CCSU ahead 1-0. Despite the setback, Howard’s goalkeeper Trinity Knox played a crucial role, executing several key saves to keep the deficit manageable.

Throughout the first half, Howard exhibited offensive efforts but struggled to convert chances. Players Gabriella Garcia-Terrell and Imani Kissi each tested the Blue Devils’ goalkeeper without succeeding in leveling the score before the halftime whistle.

The Bison came back strong in the second half, reflecting their resilience. Just four minutes after the break, Gabriella Garcia-Terrell equalized in the 49th minute, scoring her fourth goal of the season and adjusting the match to 1-1.

Following the equalizer, Howard maintained pressure, creating additional chances. Players such as Samantha James and Asia Mickens-Perez came close to scoring, but the team’s efforts were thwarted before they could find a decisive goal.
