The Snow College women’s soccer team recently traveled to Yuma, Arizona, where they participated in two competitive matches, securing a convincing win against Cochise College and facing a tough defeat against second-ranked Arizona Western College.

Victory Against Cochise College

In their opening match, Snow College played impressively, achieving a 4-0 victory over Cochise College. The Badgers initiated the scoring in the 14th minute when Saige Meryhew netted her first goal, assisted by Mirabel Shellabarger. Just before halftime, Meryhew extended the lead to 2-0 with her second goal, thanks to an assist from Anna Monson.

The Badgers continued their dominance in the second half, with Brenna Arauzo scoring twice—first in the 62nd minute and again in the 71st minute. Both goals were attributed to Monson, who recorded an impressive three assists throughout the match. Snow College outperformed Cochise with a total shot advantage of 12-5, demonstrating control over the game’s dynamics.

However, the following day brought a more challenging encounter against Arizona Western College (AWC). The Matadors quickly established their presence by scoring three goals in the first 13 minutes, leaving Snow College trailing 3-0 early on. Despite generating four shots throughout the match, the Badgers struggled to penetrate AWC’s strong defense. Daisy Williams, the sophomore goalkeeper, exhibited resilience, making nine saves out of the twelve shots faced. Although Snow College managed to keep AWC from adding to their score, they ultimately fell 3-0.
