JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In their second match of the season, FIU Women’s Soccer faced off against North Florida on Thursday, finishing the game in a 1-1 draw. This result leaves the Panthers with a record of 0-1-1, while the Ospreys improve to 1-1-1.

The contest began with North Florida taking an early lead. Just six minutes into the match, Ospreys forward Bella Pontieri netted a goal, providing North Florida with a 1-0 advantage. Despite several attempts by FIU, including two shots on target from senior Brealyn Viamille, the Panthers were unable to capitalize, concluding the first half trailing.
Second Half Momentum
Upon entering the second half, the Panthers sought to equalize and found an opportunity in the 50th minute when a foul in the penalty area led to a penalty kick for FIU. Coach Mat Dunn decided to entrust the penalty kick to senior Chinatsu Kaio, who successfully converted, marking her first goal of the 2025 season and only the second of her career.
