BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s soccer team demonstrated a commanding performance on Thursday evening, securing a decisive 5-0 win over ULM at PNC Field. This victory brings the Blazers’ record to 1-2-1 for the season while ULM now stands at 2-2.

From the opening whistle, UAB dictated the tempo of the game, culminating in a significant 15-6 advantage in total shots—nine of which were on target compared to just three for the Warhawks.
First Half Highlights
Avery Berryman ignited the scoring in the 25th minute, netting her inaugural goal of the season with a precise assist from Abby Graeser. Just four minutes later, Berryman struck again, this time benefitting from an assist by Jette Zimmer. This achievement marked Berryman’s third career goal, contributing to a solid 2-0 lead at halftime. In the first half alone, UAB outshot ULM 11-2.
Second Half Developments
The second half saw Jette Zimmer join the score sheet with her first goal of the season in the 78th minute, again assisted by Graeser. Zimmer followed up quickly with another goal in the 82nd minute, expanding UAB’s lead to 4-0.
Wrapping Up the Match
As the match approached its conclusion, ULM was penalized for a handball in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for UAB. Lailah Stewart stepped up to take the shot and successfully scored, marking her first goal with the team and elevating the final score to 5-0. This also accounted for Stewart’s ninth career goal.
