Lindenwood Women’s Rugby Triumphs Over Davenport
In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, Lindenwood University’s Women’s Rugby team secured a decisive victory against Davenport on Saturday morning, finishing the match with a score of 90-14. The Lions’ performance marks their seventh win of the season, solidifying their status as a formidable contender.
First Half Dominance
The game kicked off with an early lead for the Lions, as Joselin Roque Lopez scored the first try just four minutes into the match, putting them ahead 5-0. This initial momentum was quickly built upon: Jasmine Fehoko added another try in the 12th minute, and with Lopez’s successful conversion, the score climbed to 12-0. Five minutes later, Mia Saige Topasna crossed the line for the Lions’ third try, extending their lead to 19-0 with 23 minutes remaining in the first half.
Fehoko showcased her prowess again in the 25th minute by scoring her second try of the day, followed by two consecutive tries from Evelynn Danhof, bringing the score to 38-0. Danhof’s second try was particularly noteworthy, as she capitalized on a blocked kick from Davenport, running it straight to the try zone. The final score of the opening half came from Susana Kaihau’s impressive try in the 38th minute, concluding the half with the Lions leading 43-0. Roque Lopez successfully converted four out of seven attempts, while Fehoko continued her streak with her third try in two weeks.
Second Half Highlights
The second half commenced with Gabby Bryant breaking through for the first try at the 43rd minute, pushing the Lions’ lead to 48-0. Gianna Diaz then added a conversion, marking her first points of the match and raising the score to 50-0. Nine minutes later, Lopez intercepted a pass from Davenport and sprinted 60 yards for another try, successfully converting it to set the score at 57-0.
Mia Saige Topasna added her second try shortly after, followed by two consecutive tries from Honey Proudfoot in the 58th and 61st minutes, further extending the Lions’ lead to 76-0. Davenport managed to get on the scoreboard in the 65th minute with their first try, making it 76-7. The Lions responded to this challenge swiftly, as Kaihau scored again, bringing the score to 83-7. A second try from Davenport in the 75th minute pushed the score to 83-14, but Lindenwood’s Jenalei Fifita sealed the match with a final try in the 88th minute, leading to a final score of 90-14.
