Farmingdale State Athletes Shine in 2025 Skyline Conference Awards
On Monday, the Skyline Conference unveiled its 2025 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Teams, highlighting the outstanding performances of student-athletes from Farmingdale State College. The Rams achieved remarkable recognition, with eight members earning spots on the all-conference teams, tying for the most from any institution.
First-Team Standouts
The prestigious first-team included:
- Sarah Fava, Senior Defender (Lynbrook, NY)
- Carly Livingston, Sophomore Attack (Farmingdale, NY)
- Jules Loughran, Senior Attack (Smithtown, NY)
- Rylee Valenzano, Freshman Defender (Centereach, NY)
Second-Team Honors
The second-team featured:
- Olivia Cassese, Sophomore Midfielder (Farmingdale, NY)
- Molly Espey, Senior Midfielder (West Hempstead, NY)
- Emily Sohm, Junior Attack (Seaford, NY)
- Giavanna Stamatelo, Junior Goalkeeper (Levittown, NY)
All-Sportsmanship Recognition
Additionally, senior defender Dominique Baldino from Farmingdale State earned a spot on the Skyline’s All-Sportsmanship Team, showcasing impressive sportsmanship throughout the season.
Notable Performances
Several student-athletes repeated their high honors from the previous season:
- Sarah Fava: A first-team selection last year, Fava exhibited strong defensive skills, causing 26 turnovers and collecting 34 ground balls this season. Over her two-year career, she has caused 64 turnovers and secured 87 ground balls.
- Carly Livingston: The Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year last season, Livingston excelled again, scoring 82 points through 39 goals and 43 assists. She holds national rankings in assists (23rd) and points per game (38th).
- Jules Loughran: In her first season, Loughran led the Rams with 60 goals, marking the second-best in the Skyline. She recorded multiple high-scoring games, including a standout performance with seven goals against Mount Saint Mary.
- Rylee Valenzano: As a freshman starter, Valenzano made her mark on defense with 32 ground balls and 19 turnovers, including multiple takeaways in several games.
Additional Contributions
Midfielder Olivia Cassese distinguished herself with 39 draw controls, 31 ground balls, and a career-high six points in a game against Mount Saint Mary. Senior Molly Espey returned as a second-team honoree with a strong showing in draw controls and overall contributions. Emily Sohm, also a repeat second-team selection, will enter the conference tournament following a series of impressive performances.
Goalkeeping Excellence
In goal, Giavanna Stamatelo, the Most Outstanding Player of the 2024 Skyline Championship, stood out with a conference-leading .516 save percentage. With 181 saves to her name this season, her performance places her among the national leaders.
Looking Ahead
The Rams are poised as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming six-team 2025 Skyline Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship, aiming for further success in the postseason.
