Maine Black Bears Women’s Ice Hockey: Upcoming Game Preview

Next Game Against Saint Anselm

Date: October 10, 2025

Time: 2:00 PM

Broadcast: Available on ESPN+

Recent Performance Update

The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team faced a tough challenge recently, playing against the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers. In an intense matchup, the Black Bears were defeated 5-0. Goalie Kiia Lahtinen showcased her skills, making an impressive 49 saves during the game, achieving a save percentage of 0.907.

In addition to Lahtinen’s efforts, the defense demonstrated resilience by successfully blocking 20 shots from the opponents. Notably, Maine’s penalty-kill unit remained perfect, successfully defending against all of Wisconsin’s power plays and maintaining a national ranking tied for first in penalty-kill percentage.

Upcoming Home-Opener

Looking ahead, the Maine Black Bears will return to their home ice for a single game against Saint Anselm. This matchup marks their first game at the newly renovated Alfond Arena, which promises an exciting atmosphere for both players and fans.

As the Black Bears prepare for this upcoming clash, they will aim to leverage their recent experience against a challenging opponent and build on their strengths. The game is set to start at 2:00 PM, and fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
