Game Recap
The Skyhawks came out strong, applying pressure on DeMarinis and the Purple Knights’ defense with seven shots in the first five minutes. The Purple Knights received a power-play opportunity at 5:05 into the first period due to a tripping penalty against Stonehill.
However, the Skyhawks’ penalty kill successfully thwarted this chance, keeping the score level. Shortly after, Stonehill broke the tie when Barrett’s shot from the point was redirected by Maddison Achtyl to Dyring-Andersen, who found the net with a quick wrist shot, giving the Skyhawks an early lead.
With 13:19 remaining in the first, Connolly, while shorthanded, doubled the lead by forcing a turnover, sprinting down the ice, and deftly sliding the puck past DeMarinis for her fourth goal, entering the first intermission at 2-0.
Holding the advantage, the Skyhawks pushed offensively in the second but faced a powerful comeback from the Purple Knights. Quinn found the net on a power play at 9:03, quickly followed by a goal from Leys, tying the game at 2-2.
Despite this setback, a determined Stonehill remained undeterred, and at 18:53, Turcotte scored what would be the game-winning goal, surprising DeMarinis with an innocuous dump shot that slipped through.
The final period saw Stonehill assert its dominance with a 15-2 shooting advantage, culminating in Feeney securing the win with an empty-net goal at 18:26.
