NEW LONDON, CT. – The Wesleyan women’s hockey team faced a challenging game against Connecticut College, ending in a 4-2 defeat, despite impressive efforts from freshman Ainsley Lonczak who scored her first career goal.
After a tough 4-1 loss the previous night, the Cardinals (7-13-0 overall, 2-10-0 NESCAC) aimed to bounce back in Saturday’s NESCAC match. However, the Camels (8-9-1 overall, 4-7-1 NESCAC) quickly took control, scoring first when Alana Burm found the back of the net during a power play opportunity.
As the game progressed into the second period, Lonczak showcased her skill by scoring a goal set up by Cameron Devenney ’27, bringing the score to 1-1. Shortly after, Isabelle Allieri ’25 propelled the Cardinals into the lead with another even-strength goal, assisted by Sam Galanek ’26.
The third period saw dynamic shifts as the Camels equalized at 2-2 with a goal from Ashely Engle. Bridget McGann then notched another for the Camels, followed by Kylie McCarthy scoring the final goal with an empty net, solidifying the Camels’ win.
In goal, Jenna Guglielmi ’27 demonstrated her abilities by making 36 saves, while Devon Galizio secured the win for the Camels with 20 saves.
The Cardinals will enjoy a bye week before resuming their season on Friday, February 14, facing Colby in NESCAC action at 7:00 PM, aiming to turn their fortunes around.
