According to recent research, half of all women believe that 2025 will mark the year they reach their peak strength.
A survey involving 2,000 women examined their health and wellness objectives, revealing that 58% are committed to achieving the greatest mental strength they’ve ever experienced.
The findings indicated that the primary mental goal for women in the near future is to minimize stress and anxiety.
The most popular health goals among women include weight loss (43%), enhancing sleep quality (40%), and improving eating habits (36%), with increasing physical strength (29%) closely following.
The survey, conducted by Talker Research for Burn Boot Camp, highlighted that 43% of women have never engaged in weightlifting at the gym.
For those who have tried lifting weights, 55% reported feeling intimidated by how they appear, while 42% expressed a lack of confidence to lift weights in front of others.
The primary motivation for women prioritizing strength training is to strengthen their bones (72%), with enhancing posture and balance as the next most significant reason.
“Many women are grappling with anxiety and discontent related to body image, influenced by unrealistic standards and quick-fix solutions that link worthiness to weight,” stated Morgan Kline, CEO and co-founder of Burn Boot Camp. “Let’s be clear: Individuals aren’t failing at fitness — the fitness industry is failing them. We should concentrate on genuine empowerment through challenging workouts and fostering mental resilience, helping women understand they can overcome any obstacle.”
What commonly derails women from achieving their health and wellness aspirations? The average participant of the survey identified that lack of motivation (43%) is the largest hurdle.
Interestingly, almost one-quarter (22%) indicated that a lack of confidence is a significant barrier to reaching their health and fitness goals.
What do women believe can assist them in their journey toward both physical and mental fitness? Support from friends and family was identified as the top influence (28%), while having a workout buddy or being part of a fitness community (23%) came in close behind.
The sense of community is meaningful to survey respondents, with 59% either currently being part of a fitness community or interested in joining one that aligns with their goals.
“Witnessing women embrace strength training and challenge themselves physically is incredibly motivating,” remarked Missy Franklin, Olympic Gold Medalist and Burn Boot Camp Brand Ambassador. “As an athlete and former gold medalist, I know that setting goals and growing stronger can transform not only yourself but also those around you. It empowers the individual and their families, creating a ripple effect of confidence, strength, and resilience.”
