Eastern Michigan Women’s Golf Welcomes Twin Sisters
Ypsilanti, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – In a notable development for the Eastern Michigan University women’s golf program, Head Coach Josh Brewer announced the addition of twin sisters Janae and Jasmine Leovao, who are set to join the 2025-26 roster following their transfer from Long Beach State University.
Excitement for New Additions
Coach Brewer expressed his enthusiasm about the sisters joining the Eagles. “Today is an amazing day for Eastern Michigan Women’s Golf and the Leovao family,” he remarked. “Their connection as twins is indicative of their success, and their passion for competing will propel us to new heights.” His confidence in their ability to contribute significantly to the team is rooted in their impressive collegiate records.
Jasmine Leovao’s Achievements
Jasmine Leavao, hailing from Oceanside, California, was a standout player at Long Beach State during the 2024-25 season. She achieved significant milestones, including participation in the NCAA Regionals for the third consecutive year, where she tied for eighth place. Notably, Jasmine garnered recognition as a two-time Big West Conference Champion in 2023 and 2024, climbing to an impressive No. 97 in the final collegiate rankings. Her remarkable season included 12 events, with 11 finishes in the top 20 and three in the top five.
Brewer highlighted her accomplishments, stating, “Jasmine’s record at The Beach showcases her incredible talent and competitiveness. Her ability to deliver exceptional performances will undoubtedly enhance our program.”
Janae Leavao’s Progression
Janae Leavao also enjoyed success during her tenure at Long Beach State, finishing the 2024-25 season ranked No. 148, a 163-place improvement from the previous year. Competing in the NCAA Regionals on two occasions, she recently secured a tie for 17th place at the Gold Canyon Regional, positioning her second among individual qualifiers in the region, just behind her sister. Over the past season, Janae participated in 12 events and maintained a consistent presence in the top 25.
Brewer praised her progress, saying, “Janae’s improvement in rankings reflects her dedication and self-belief. With her talent, winning could soon follow.”
Impact on the 2025-26 Roster
The addition of the Leavao sisters brings the total number of new signings on the 2025-26 roster to six. They join Baiyok Sukterm, a transfer from Thailand, as well as three incoming freshmen: Pavitida ‘Amy’ Raemmuang from Thailand, Krittiya ‘Grace’ Thanintorndamrongdej, also from Thailand, and Matilde Zocchi from Italy.
